New Mural Development in mineola

New mural in development for Mineola as a part of Wood County Walls! Artist Luis Valle is working with the Musgraves family (Craig, Karen, Kelley & Kasey) to design the next Mineola mural to add to the Wood County Walls (WCW) collection. The plan is for the mural to cover the entire north wall of the MPrints building, home to the Musgraves family printing business. The design will pay homage to the creative arts of print design and music. that reflects the legacy of the Musgraves family. The Musgraves have been in the print business for over 30 years. Karen is an accomplished artists with work that has been displayed in the County Music Hall of Fame. Daughter Kasey is a Grammy award winning country music artist. Daughter Kelly is an accomplished commercial, lifestyle and family photographer.

The Flint and Steel Coalition has commissioned international muralist and Miami-based artist Luis Valle to collaborate with the Musgraves and paint the mural.. The Musgraves family and Mr. Valle are currently in the design phased of the art. They hope to begin work on the mural April 29th with a dedication during Mineola's May Days Festival, May 6, 2023.

The mural is part of a county-wide economic development project based on the development of murals and other public art across Wood County. The Mprints mural will follow the Unity Mural as the second piece of public art created as a part of the WCW initiative in Mineola. Funding for the project is provided by the Wood County Economic Development Commission, City of Mineola, MPrints, and local donors. Three other murals are in the early stages of planning for Mineola. Stay tuned for more info as those plans materializTe.

Also look for more murals and public art across the county as local artists organize Tuesday, March 14 at 6:30 at the Winnsboro Community Arts Center Annex to form the WCW Artist Guild. Anyone with an interest in creating art or supporting those that do, is invited to attend the meeting.
